And it is in these moments, those between the cracks where the shadows creep in like a dense fog preparing you for slumber,
and the darkness of the blackout overpowers any light;
It is not that you are “less” because of the familiar feeling of emptiness —
Those moments, when the Despair Monster tightly tucks you in to the terror of sadness paralysis, that is when Love must wash over you like a tidal wave.
Think of that powerlessness as a lesson, as a reminder, to love yourself in all the ways you had forgotten to leading up to the Despair Monster’s hijacking. The monster has come, not to torture you while you’re immobilized under its weighted blanket of influence, but to remind you —
Because when he finally releases the edges that have held you down, and you take giant, gulping breaths of crisp air to cleanse your soul, that is when the Light pours back in.
Let it into the cracks sooner.
The Despair Monster and the Light are the same thing, both teaching the same lessons —
Love is permeable; it is malleable; it wants IN from the get go.
